Pittsfield — The 23-year-old Glendale man whose passenger was killed in a drunken driving accident over Easter weekend in Great Barrington last year, was sentenced Wednesday (March 9) to a total of four years in the Berkshire House of Corrections after pleading guilty in Berkshire Superior Court.

Kyle Bailey, a Keene State College student, was drinking and speeding in the early hours of Saturday, April 4, when the Subaru Forester wagon he was driving crashed into a utility pole on East Street. The crash killed front seat passenger Garrett J. Norton, 21, of Housatonic, and injured backseat passenger Matthew Moriarty, 20, of Great Barrington. Bailey dislocated a hip in the accident. The three Monument Mountain Regional High graduates had been drinking at Michael’s Restaurant in Stockbridge.
In Berkshire Superior Court Judge John Agostini sentenced Bailey to two and a half years on the charges of motor vehicle homicide while under the influence, and operating negligently. Bailey was also sentenced to 18 months of a two and a half year sentence, to be served on and after the first sentence, on the charges of operating under the influence and operating negligently causing serious bodily injury. He was also placed on three years probation and must stay off drugs and alcohol, and continue counseling during that time.
