Police say Sheridan, 36, was unarmed when he robbed Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, 310 Main St. in Great Barrington, on Monday afternoon.
Great Barrington — The Connecticut man who, on Monday (Feb. 13), allegedly robbed Salisbury Bank and Trust Company on Main Street is in police custody after he crashed the car he was driving into a tree on Wednesday (Feb. 15) following another bank robbery in Falls Village, Connecticut.
Eric James Sheridan, 36, was also sought by police for another bank robbery last month at People’s United Bank in the Stop & Shop in Putnam, Connecticut, after he was caught on surveillance camera.
On Wednesday, Great Barrington police were notified by the Connecticut State Police, Canaan Barracks, that both Sheridan, of Danielson, Connecticut, and the other suspect–Rachelle Winter, 30, were in custody. Police say Winter is Sheridan’s girlfriend.
Police say the couple were driving the same red 2014 Fiat with Rhode Island plates seen parked outside Salisbury Bank on Monday, and that Sheridan and Winter, of East Providence, Rhode Island, are currently being treated at Sharon (Connecticut) Hospital, having sustained “unknown injuries.”

Police Chief William Walsh said earlier today his department had issued an arrest warrant for Sheridan and a possible accomplice.
At around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sheridan allegedly walked into the bank wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses, Walsh added. Unarmed, Sheridan then passed a note to the teller and made off with “an undisclosed amount of cash.”
No one was hurt, but Walsh further warned that, though the suspect committed an “unarmed bank robbery,” the public should still consider him “armed and dangerous.”
The Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force, including Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Berkshire County district attorney’s office, also helped with the investigation.
